Video Stills from Rogue Cam (bottom 2) and RoamingFree Cam (top) – an old Go-Pro rescued from extinction and put out to work with the rising tide.
Rogue Cam forms part of an ongoing collaboration/conversation with Jen Southern and the seaweed colony at Red Bank, on Morecambe Bay.
It was a calm day when we sent Rogue Cam on their mission to video the seaweed on the rising tide and it occurred to me that, whilst silty, the footage was amongst the clearest we might achieve on the Bay. This prompted me to approach some more tides with the camera to achieve a wider variety of perspectives, experiences, intentions and emotions. Rogue Cam, and Roaming Free Cam refer to different techniques of working with the camera.
A moment in the life of Periwinkle, Alga, and Barnacle – 3 Rogue Boulders carried into the intertidal zone and named for the first species to settle with them. Don’t be fooled by appearances – it is no longer apparent who is who.
The Rogue Boulders are part of an ongoing conversation/collaboration between Jen Southern, me, the Rogues, and all the beings we meet there.
The Barnacle Matchbox sits amongst the seaweed colony at Red Bank on Morecambe Bay. I am working on a second outer sleeve to acknowledge further more-than-human activity at Periwinkle (Rogue Boulder 3).
The seaweed hands? Maybe I’ll tell you about those next time……
