Walking along the coast brings me a sense of freedom and wonder. The rapidly changing conditions and geometries that play across the open space, grab my attention and take my breath away. I walk in the same places throughout the seasons – out on The Bay itself, and along the promenades and footpaths where the built environment meets with nature. I’ve been walking The Bay for as long as I can remember, yet for many years I have shied away from painting its overwhelming space. The paintings were inevitable though, I just needed to find the right attitude with which to make them. I started this body of work in 2017, which thus far consists of small paintings which have been thoughtfully and carefully constructed. The most recent work is shown first.
